  •  So true - one thing an adoptive parent can be (7+ / 0-)

    certain about is that people come into the world who they are. Since I couldn't say that my child's behavior "came from" his father, or grandmother, etc., I had to take an objective look, for lack of a better phrase. For example, we had wonderful car travelers whereas friends could literally not take their child on long car rides. Our childrens' temperaments have remained the same over time. Yes, we were able to moderate some behaviors. Others, even though we "modeled" them, were not taken in.  I just look at those things that we couldn't change as their own karma, sort of, the issues they were going to have to work on themselves in their adult lives.
