  •  I think Obama should say... (24+ / 0-)

    "The reason we do not negotiate with terrorists or kidnappers is that it will cause them to want more/do it again.  In the spirit of fairness, I did compromise with Republicans in the last few CRISIS situations, and in response they just keep creating more crisis situations.  They lost the vote in the Congress that passed the ACA.  They lost at the Supreme Court, and they lost in the 2012 Elections where they tried to make Obamacare a central issue.  Now the only option they have left is holding their breath like two years old's until the ACA is defunded.  They have kidnapped or economy to do this, and they can do worse damage to the economy than Al-Qaida ever could.  We tried to be reasonable, but we can no longer negotiate with terrorists.  "

    Of course, if he used this strong of language, the right would have an apoplectic fit.  Haha.

    The DNC fired people up, the RNC just wanted to fire a person.

      the pundit class and serious people in the media would as well; he's being too partisan, not compromising to get "something" done;

      terrorists:

      We never negotiate with terrorists!
      That's what we would say to any foreign terrorists or domestic terrorists trying to shut down our government. It's what we should also say to Republican terrorists who are trying to do the same.

      But if the cause be not good, the king himself hath a heavy reckoning to make, ... there are few die well that die in a battle; ... Now, if these men do not die well, it will be a black matter for the king that led them to it; — Shakespeare, ‘Henry V’
