  •  Whats the next 3 paragraphs of that speech about? (1+ / 0-)

I seem to remember it being rationalization of why a close SCOTUS decision on a controversial issue is not necessarily something that should be considered law.

The ACA is not the same as slavery, but be careful with that speech.

    •  Some Supreme Court decisions are wrong (0+ / 0-)

That's why the Court reconsiders itself from time to time.

      •  The Court can ALWAYS reconsider iteself (0+ / 0-)

but our governemnt is predicated on the idea of the Supreme Court as the final arbiter of what is or is NOT Constitutional.  When they change their minds, we change our definition accordingly.

But the "Well that decision was close and I dont think its right so we should keep pressing the minority opinion" is the same nonsense we mocked Rand Paul for espousing on the ACA decision.  The same thing we're browbeating the GOP now about not accepting ACA as law.  The same thing Gore cautioned the country and led y example AGAINST after Bush v. Gore.

Lincoln led us to open civil war and left 2% of the nation's population dead on the field.   This is not a path we necessarily want to champion.
