    As a member of an anti-submarine helicopter squadron in 69-70 I found it a true farce.  The best thing was the "crazy Ivan" manuver was called "chicken of the sea" by the enlisted sailors, hence Bradywine.
    I think I was the only one in the movie theater when they went to passive sonar and you heard "ping  ping."   It still cracks me up.
    From my experience I would say that wars are lost, they are never won.
