"[Malala] informed [Obama] that his drone strikes are killing people and otherwise having a not-so-peaceful effect."

Give me another way to understand that, other than DH suggesting Obama somehow is/was not already aware of that.

"I thanked President Obama for the United States' work in supporting education in Pakistan and Afghanistan and for Syrian refugees," she said in the statement. "I also expressed my concerns that drone attacks are fueling terrorism. Innocent victims are killed in these acts, and they lead to resentment among the Pakistani people.
    •  Yes, let's turn this into a semantic argument (14+ / 0-)

You seriously think I was under the impression that the President of the United States was receiving some kind of "intel" from Malala that he didn't already have?

On the contrary. I think he's quite aware. Yet the strikes continue.

And new "terrorists" just replace the ones we "neutralize."

Until the cycle in broken, it will continue indefinitely.

that they have no plan to truly end terrorism, or to create a more just world where terrorism would find less of a foothold.

It is just more weapons and more surveillance -- more power, more control -- in a world where we are taught to fear and to willingly trade away our rights. More drones for people in rural Pakistan who must ask themselves, every day, what they did to make the USA hate them so much.
