    Re: 26 (red) states refusing to expand Medicaid-many of those childless adults have chronic conditions going untreated; so instead of lower cost treatment of diabetes and hypertension earlier under Medicaid, we can fund the resultant heart failure and renal failure at higher cost under Medicare! So not just cruel and disastrous for the people affected but also fiscally foolish. Not to mention women of child bearing age with untreated chronic conditions, and the  resultant poor outcomes, like preterm birth, that will result.

    •  My 29 year old daughter (4+ / 0-)

      was working part time at $10 an hour with no benefits (she lost her 2nd job).  When applying for food stamps in PA, she was told the only way she'd qualify for them would be if she were pregnant.
