what a wonder LBJ was, eh ?
got in doing the wrong things for the right reasons, got out by the skin of his teeth: i gotta go back and study him some more. biggest hit of my pa's day was Sam Rayburn.

    > sigh <
    see why i don't write diaries ?

we - ex-pat here - love what we love about what we love, and hate what we hate about what we hate, especially if it's what we love, too.

i personally think Congressman John Lewis has been very lucky to have had a man come to his DC office with his son, to say he was sorry for bashing his scull. the thing about snark is that it is overused and poorly used, so that it would try to diminish even so remarkable a story as this, for no reason but the snarker's ego.

without expecting such stunning results, this is what John Lewis worked for, works for, stands for and nurtures.

i do hope your moniker has something to do with that particular Texas area.

Addington's perpwalk? TRAILHEAD of accountability for Bush-2 Crimes. @Hugh: There is no Article II power which says the Executive can violate the Constitution.

    •  Perfect comment on LBJ. (8+ / 0-)

People used to say, but he's a crook. Yeah, but he was our crook--and he had a good heart. :)

And Rayburn was simply a genius.

      Not to mention Ralph Yarborough?

Texas born, Texas bred--lived there until I was 35. But like you, I'm an ex-pat and nothing, absolutely nothing, could induce me to move back to TX in its current manifestation. My poor cousin--who lives in Austin--calls screaming: who is this Ted Cruz person????????   How can we get rid of him? Donate, donate, donate--and vote.  Where are all those Democrats in Austin, SA, Dallas-FTW and Houston on election day?

Thanks for this comment yesterday. Your Lewis  analogy is apt.

Poorly executed snark is often a product of ego, but can also be a product of insecurity and also of an inept desire to belong and be accepted.

IMHO snark, like analysis, should be left to the experts. There are some real experts on both around here. I am not one of them, for either of those.

Yes, I lived in Bastrop when I joined DK and was thrilled the name was available and I jumped on it. I loved that little city.
