the kos readership isn't only those who have 'signed up' with accounts. i'm sure someone has some #s handy...but there are countless people who read and never sign up...or some, like me, lurk for years. many repost diaries through facebook and twitter (note those icons at the top of diaries) or emails.

some newspeople will occasionally reference dkos. rachel maddow did that not long ago. so, 'outsiders' do read. and alot. in fact, sometimes a rightwing website will refer to and mock dkos. so you can be sure they read dkos (and some even make accounts here and try to wreak havoc! shocking, eh?)

so, i happen to think the quality of our content matters. state-bashing is a trait better left to the right wingers.

i've been through too much shiite to be 'thin-skinned,' by the way. and i know, too, that the others who were offended by this (much like a recent diary about elephants) are not people who've had our fee-fees hurt, or are 'overly' sensitive, etc.

we simply think that, as progressives, we should rise above the tactics and the frothy hatefulness that come from the gop. and, on the off chance that one of my red relatives decides to take me up on my suggestion to read dkos, i'd like to think they wouldn't see the same nastiness their party espouses.

and, all red-state dems really need moral support.

thanks for fighting here in tx!
