Cruz is dangerous and bad for the country.  If he gets the Republican nomination, he's WAY too close to the Presidency.  At least 45% of the electorate will never, ever, in a million years vote for a Democrat, no matter who is running on either side.  A single unforeseen October surprise, and he could be the one in the White House.  He'd be worse than Bush ever was--think of the fictional Greg Stillson.

No way we should encourage his kind of insanity.

But, Cruz is already a US Senator, and there are a lot of very dangerous people in this country who are Republicans, Walker, Rubio, Ryan -- I say, let's pick the most zealous of them and shower him with support, make him believe he is a God.

We could lose in 2016 regardless.  But Cruz just seems like the apotheosis of teabaggery, and someone female and people of color voters just instinctively can't stand.

Sure, anything can happen, but is there a way to help our cause by encouraging a civil war in Republican ranks?

      I would think so.

    •  I agree (0+ / 0-)

the notion that you encourage the far right to win nominations might work with idiots like Todd Akin, but someone like Cruz is too egomaniacal and too smart to allow him to gain any more power.  Think about the stuff in 2000 in Bush v. Gore.  If he was in the middle of that, he isn't just book-smart, he is strategic as well.  That's a bad combination.

I keep thinking that this shutdown was orchestrated by people who could see how it would play out, but did it anyway.  We don't know what is going on behind the scenes.  Maybe it was pure overreach, but maybe not.  I don't want him to have any more power than he already has.
