    took a major dive, and the Very Serious People all want to cut SS and Medicare.  That's a pretty serious triple whammy that says a great deal about how we've declined as a society.

    Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?

      Republican refusal to increase the minimum wage, making it hard if not impossible for unions to organize, and opposition to people being able to obtain or maintain affordable health insurance, and the decline becomes hard to reverse.  At least until the big demographic shift kicks in, I really believe that we just have to deal with these lunatics for several years to come until they're finally irrelevant.
