We shoulda had a not-for-profit single-payer option, not be forced to by this corporate crap.  The easiest thing would have been for people to buy into Medicare which is already a not-for-profit single-payer health insurance plan (except for Part D which should be made part of Part A or Part B or kept separate but made part of the government-run Medicare program).  To handle the extra paperwork people would have to be hired and new offices opened up... Jobs, jobs, jobs!!!  Immediate impact on local, state, and federal tax bases as a result of the new jobs.  Everyone coulda been a winnah!

CHEERS to the memory of Molly Ivins.  I've said it before, I'll likely say it again, but I miss Molly.  I wonder what her acerbic wit would have come up with over the most recent developments...?

CHEERS to a new Ylvis video.  BruinKid published it last night before I had a chance to do so.  Most of it is okay, but a couple of places there are explicit lyrics, so listen with ear phones: NSFW - better to be safe than sorry.

And I believe it shall come to pass. I also believe it is the real reason behind the rabid opposition to the ACA.

As long as they take corporations OUT of the equation, I'll be a happy camper.  The whole notion that people are forced, by law, to pay insurance premiums that will go toward record-setting corporate profits and CEO bonuses every year just shreds my last nerve and makes me shriek like a Banshee.

As a SSI & Medicare recipient, it doesn't affect me (except for Part D - prescription insurance), but I want others, especially younger people who are working and already paying into Medicare, to know what it's like to have a not-for-profit single-payer medical insurance plan, which is exactly what Medicare Part A & Part B are and I still pay for that monthly, of course (I don't mind - paying a corporation for prescription insurance I mind like crazy; I still have co-pays).

Believe it or not, Medicare is running efficiently!  Everyone needs to experience that on top of a not-for-profit single-payer [NON-corporate] health insurance plan that actually works.

ALL corporations need to be kicked out of our government and surgically severed from their very own Treasury Teats.

        Period.
