That's the thing that has thrown this all over the cliff.
With the glaring exception of the Civil War, the side that loses the political debate over an issue regroups and tries to mitigate or reverse the outcome in future elections and legislative debates. That's just democracy, messy, frustrating, blahblahblah.
The advent of the tea bag barbarians' approach to politics has thrown all that away. Instead of looking to the future to 'remedy' the evils of the Obama admin, they dig in, refuse to accept reality, and try to resurrect the past.
     This is pathological.
Dealing with a faction of people that refuses to acknowledge when they have lost; in a game, a debate, a court case, or a war, changes everything. Rational debate is moot.
I don't think most people have yet grasped that that is exactly where we are. This is a political crisis of the first order. The tea party is extra-democratic; they will not play by its rules. The fact that they align very much with the existing militia movement makes them extremely dangerous.
