Just look at the voting for E. W. Jackson in Virginia.  He swept the Valley of Virginia, and one suspects that this was a matter of straight-ticket voting instead of an informed choice.  And it is a likely indicator that there is zero Democratic Party presence in those counties or not enough active and open and publicizing Democrats to break through the Democrats are scary mindset.

There are 3080 counties.  What proportion of them are essentially written off by the Democratic establishments planning campaigns?

When Democrats start taking back rural counties, their demographic performance will also improve.  And it will provide voter protection for those demographic groups most likely to be subject to intimidation.
