    And by people I mean Landrieu and other congressional reps.  Forget about standard or substandard or whether the insurer is rapacious, that might be true, but "fixing" the problem with cancellation is just to let it play out, because issuing and administering coverage requires signficant technical and logistical requirements that make it unlikely these insurers even WANT to continue to issue non-conforming coverage.  Unless you repeal the entire law and all of its standards, insurers don't want "legacy" policies out there with a declining pool, because all new purchases will have to be of conforming policies and ALL insurers want to focus their energies on the future and not have to keep these non-conforming policies on their hands.  

    A comparison that might make sense to you: If you are the IT support guy in an office and there is one curmudgeon who won't give up on using DOS based Wordperfect -- eventually, you just have to tell him, "sorry, we won't support that anymore."  That's how insurers feel about these non-conforming policies.
