I mean, there are millions of people working on Thanksgiving, in everything from professional football to retail to local gas stations, restaurants and convenience stores.

Picking out these large examples seems like taking the easy shot - who doesn't want another reason to bash Wal-Mart? - but it doesn't hold up across the board.

Medieval Times?  Really?  There are MILLIONS of Americans who want to eat out on Thanksgiving - and you're going to blast a theme restaurant for being open?

It's also easy for a specialty store like Home Depot to close on Thanksgiving, because as their spokesman told USA Today, "this isn't our make-or-break season like it is for many retailers."  Yeah, there isn't a 'holiday spike' for hardware stores as there is for other retailers.

I'll pay more attention when you post an article including the NFL, event organizers (hey, you think Macy's does that parade by themselves?), gas stations and the like.

The notion that the retail industry alone deserves this negative attention doesn't do much for me.

The word "parent" is supposed to be a VERB, people...
