    to talking filibuster for legislation, but I also want an end to secret holds and a limiting of holds, period. I also want the rule on talking filibusters to be that anyone can initiate, but it only takes 40 votes to end and bring an issue to a vote.

    Slowing down something so that it can be considered properly (rather than rammed through like Scott Walker's WI) is a use of filibuster completely consistent with democracy. Democracy is as much about debate and deliberation as it is about voting.  But ending the use of it as obstruction is great.

    And, I agree, using the "presidents with the Senate will get their way" in campaigns could be helpful. (It's the courts, stupid!) I've never understood why the right is so much more successful at mobilizing over the courts than progressives are.
