    A family making 9k would consider "comfortable" to be about 19k.
    Give me an extra 70k extra to burn and then commiserate with me about how tough it is to get by.

    You didn't address the Medicaid problem.  How about those people hanging on, living on their savings who would have to blow some of it in Vegas to qualify?

      someone I worked with once pointed out the difficulties of having 3 kids, 2 incomes, up in the mid hundred thousands, way better off but they feel squeezed by mortgage, cars, college for the kids etc. Not everyone at each income level is living like a hog. Harder though for me to feel sympathy the higher it gets. Supposedly, in today's America, that $75,000 is the essential # where people above it don't feel greater happiness with greater wealth. This has to do with security for self and family, when attained, life feels good, up above that the $ isn't doing anything for happiness. Of course, $ creates access.
