  •  This quite literally reminds me of the decision (8+ / 0-)

one has to make when dealing with a dangerous deluded person; let's say, a workplace bully; or oh, say, a psychotic killer.

Do you appease, knowing that they will cause harm anyway, but hoping to avoid massive cruelties if you don't play along?

Or do you go all out no-fear frontal assault, knowing they will cause harm anyway, but wanting to stop them at all costs?  If it's a psycho killer, do you play along, knowing he's gonna kill you anyway, but hoping to avoid torture too?

We are way beyond appeasement.  Of course we can never know what course things would have taken if we had gone another route; but we can logically assume that if we appease and try to compromise and play along, it will at best remain status quo anyway and probably get worse.  I say proverbially punch 'em in the mouth and two-hand shove 'em in the chest, and keep coming at them while they are backpedaling and stumbling.

Please know I am not rude. I cannot rec anything from this browser. When I rec or post diaries I am a guest at some exotic locale's computer. Ayn is the bane!
