  •  my parents were young dems from Mass then (12+ / 0-)

although on a wing and a prayer (a job promise and a $200 car) they had just moved to Ann Arbor, even though my mom was 8 moths pregnant with me. So I have no memories of that day but I try to imagine the juxtaposition of life & death my mom might have been feeling. I'll just have to remember to ask her about it.

    •  I remember being the first to tell my mother (6+ / 0-)

what had happened. I was in my eighth grade class when the announcement was made, and were sent home early. My mother was in the front yard. She didn't believe me at first. Both my parents were good Democrats, and loved JFK. It was the first major shock I ever experienced in my 13 year old life.
