I decided a few years ago that if I can do without it, I will. I'm sick of this market being flooded with plastic junk and poorly made clothes from China. After all, how may plastic kool-aid pitchers does a family need in their lifetime?

I have an idea since finally the Dem's in DC and Obama appear to be growing some balls that could force the issue of low pay and no decent jobs left in this county: How about lobbying the administration to amend the terms and conditions required to obtain a government contract. This government makes massive purchases of everything from cell phones to prison uniforms. What if it were a requirement that contracts are only awarded to contractors who manufacture/make those items in America with American labor. No getting a fat gov contracts and then outsourcing to China.
If the gov can't obtain a contractor who is willing to make the needed product in the US, with US labor, then the gov can hire the employees and manufacture the needed items themselves...
After all, any thinking person knows that the whole Republican scam of privatizing gov work is BS and doesn't save a dime, it usually costs the taxpayer more.  If it takes 40 labor hours to do something by a gov employees, it takes 40 labor hours for that same employee to do it under a private contract. The big difference is that less money goes to the employee under a private contract and more into the pocket of the contract holder (boss/corporation).
That would be an "administration fix" that doesn't require anything from Congress and it is something they can't stop.
Perhaps some of you younger, healthier people can get that ball rolling. How about it?

you want a government contract, you pay your taxes.  Full stop.  No more offshoring you revenue to Luxembourg or some damned where.  You want a piece of the government cheese, you help fund it.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.
