The idea that florists, of all people, would be against gay marriage.

I went through florist school at Hennepin Technical in 2008-2009. The few males that did take the class were gay men. As were most of the really successful male floral designers they brought in to talk to our class.

The very idea that florists might be bigoted against gay people makes me laugh. The whole INDUSTRY loves gay men. As do I. And gay/trans women as well - me, along with all of my class at the time (about a third of us really old women like myself, the rest really young women) would LOVE to do flowers or decorations for a gay or otherwise unconventional wedding.

We all would have seen it as a chance to show off some unconventional floral design skills, and not do the same old boring thing.

These people are WAYYYY off base if they think that floral designers are going to join them in their bigotry.

Old Mamasan would certainly be glad to know that Ronnie's gotten past it. I'll tell her the next time I see her. Stephen King, Hearts in Atlantis
