But Reid’s remedy—calling a simple-majority vote to undo more than two centuries of custom—has created a situation in which the minority leader, Mitch McConnell (Ky.), is expected to use the minority’s remaining powers to gum up the works, and to get revenge when Republicans regain the majority.
Similarly, the abuse victim will come to regret creating a situation in which her husband is expected to beat her again.  It's her fault.  If she would just roll over and submit to him, then he wouldn't have to beat her.

Reid's remedy has created that situation?!

How about holding Republicans responsible for their reprehensible actions, rather than acting as if they have no choice in the matter?

How about this:  If McConnell uses the minority's remaining powers to gum up the works and get revenge ... then McConnell -- not Reid -- has created a situation in which the minority uses their remaining powers to gum up the works and get revenge?

Democrats were fully justified in stripping Republicans of their right to filibuster President Obama’s nominees — yet they will come to deeply regret what they have done. [...]
    In other words ...

How dare Democrats finally take action in response to Republicans' acting like vindictive spoiled toddlers!  It has left Republicans with no other option than to act even more like vindictive spoiled toddlers.
