    Look how hard it was to get civil rights legislation passed in the 1960s, thanks to the filibuster, which back then required 65 Senators to cut off debate, not 60.

      sad to say.

      Johnson was far more of a street fighter than Kennedy. He knew the give and take necessary to make things happen.

      Before his death, JFK's programs were all stuck in neutral.

      What we call god is merely a living creature with superior technology & understanding. If their fragile egos demand prayer, they lose that superiority.

      it was work, but guess what.

      it also was a huge amount of work for the southern
      senators to slow down the 64 civil rights act.

      it took 57 days of standing there, in the well in shifts,
      including saturdays.

      it also branded the southern political establishment
      for what they were.
