    My step father was an officer in the Air Force and worked at a SAC base.

      the novel Red Alert, itself a cheesy knock-off of another nvoel in the same genre: Failsafe.

      Red Alert does not have a trace of humor in it from start to finish and reads like an overwrought high-school Sophomore's paranoid fantasy. Thank Kubrick, Peter Sellers and George C. Scott that they took it and turned it into imoortal black humor
