  •  I'm a Whovian hipster, a fan since I was 7 (12+ / 0-)

    - back in 1987.  My mother was a Whovian as well as a Trekker, and she allowed me to stay up late on Saturday nights and watch Doctor Who on PBS with her.

When I was seven, she pulled me out of school one day to "see the Doctor" (cough) and I was able to meet John Pertwee at the traveling exhibit/convention when it came to Augusta, GA.

And I got to pet a robotic K-9, a singular moment of my childhood that is tough to beat in terms of sheer awesome.  Even though I knew it was a model and not a real robot, I told myself it was one of the spares and just needed the Doctor to activate it.
