  •  Then fight the next one, too (0+ / 0-)

Or push Obama and Congressional Dems to clean up FCC rules.  The content that man is putting out on the air is disgusting and shouldn't be allowed.

If cutting Social Security & Medicare benefits for low income seniors is what Democrats do after they win a budget standoff, I'd hate to see what they do after they lose one.

    •  I'm kind of reluctant to touch that one in a way. (0+ / 0-)

For one reason and one reason alone.

      Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

      emphasis mine.

I know it may not be the most popular opinion but when you start silencing political speech you open the door to your own speech being silenced and I'm not willing to cross that line.

Fight him by going after his advertisers and hit him by going after the stations individually but don't, under any circumstances, get the government to start censoring political speech or entertainment (we'll leave things that are blatantly illegal out of this because those are considered to be not covered due to their very nature, and I think we all know what those are). I will fight that tooth and nail every step of the way and I'd fight it for conservatives the same as I'd fight it for anyone here.

Free speech is one of the things I care the most about, and believe me there are plenty of things out there I find utterly indefensible and things that I would take very harsh action against if I could, but they're legal and as much as I hate it and I want to do things about it; the law says it's legal and that's as far as I'll defend it.

The airwaves belong to the public and can be regulated to prevent obscene language and speech.

For the same reason tv stations bleep out obscenities during the Oscar or MTV Award speeches, they can get Rush off the air.

If cutting Social Security & Medicare benefits for low income seniors is what Democrats do after they win a budget standoff, I'd hate to see what they do after they lose one.

        •  Yes, lies should be illegal and punishable. (0+ / 0-)

Only truth should be allowed to be aired or printed, and we all know that our side = truth, and their side = lies and obscenities.
