of an government run national health system, the right wing would denounce it as a prime example of the failure of socialism. But since it's a creature of the free market, it's hailed as the best system in the world.

and there is no dispute that we have the best healthcare in the world for those able to pay for it. We have rationed health care based on ability to pay. Healthcare is rationed in every country in the world, each by a somewhat different mechanism.

What most Americans, including our policy makers, seem unwilling to address is that healthcare costs in the US are 2X the rest of the G8, with poorer outcomes, because we teach and practice medicine in a significantly different manner than any other country in the world. It's not because everyone else has single payer, or we don't let the government bargain with drug companies, or the insurance companies take too big a cut, or that we don't have enough primary care clinicians. Each of those would help but until we radically change how we teach and practice medicine the costs in the US will always be higher than the rest of the developed world.

      "let's talk about that"

We need to stop saying that because it's a lie for people who are the evil rich or have Cadillac insurance or Medicare.

Why do we have Medicare & Medicaid? The same reason applies to ACA. The evil free market demonstrates another failure. Nope, must be a feature not a failure because in America money IS always more important than people.

There is something wrong with us in this country.

health system run by the government has been Medicare; and although the official voices of the RW noise machine may hate it, the rank and file of the tea party love it nonetheless-- although admittedly many don't seem to understand its a government program.
