First , I'm sending compassion to your poor daughter who had to endure that abuse. I'm so sorry that happened to her.
Some adult should have stepped in, or the school Superintendent etc.
Before coming back to the (sane) Northeast, I saw in Fla., first hand the way young women and young girls were treated, by the number of rapes I read about daily in the local paper..It almost seemed as if it were something just accepted at some schools that with boys in sports, men with power, but most especially Ministers, Preacher's etc. it was some sick "right of passage".
I never understood this seemingly southern cultural of horror, especially as these boys in school, or these sleazy ministers always seemed to have (to the courts) more credibility than an innocent young girl, to these male judges in charge.
Technically it could be seen as a form of incest as this falls under the category of someone 'with control over the victim that new her''...someone she should have been able to trust, abused her trust and then her body and soul, instead. I'd still file a Law suit if I were the Mom.
These sex abuser criminal's must be labelled sex offenders and banned from ever being near any child again and entered into a system nation wide to warn others..and their licenses revoked as "Minister of god".
Why don't we have Federal laws for these crimes? States certainly have failed our children and women miserably and it seem now to be the cause of this growing filthy epidemic.
There were 26,000 rapes in our Military alone this year! There were 275,000 women raped in this country in 2012 alone. This isn't a coincidence, this is a systemic failure and those in power evidently condoning it, how else could we have such high numbers?
Who we should hold ultimately responsible? Congress didn't help as we still have no ERA and no Violence Against Women Act. To me the GOP condones rape, I'm only shocked they haven't admitted it yet..
