Only one kind of milkweed looked appropriate for my yard (no sun). None of the nectar plants would work. But I will buy and plant that one milkweed. Hopefully we can host some monarch larvae.

It took  me years of nurturing the soil to get ANYTHING to grow in my tiny yard. Now it is pretty lush. Got some nice moss to take as a general covering. Got a Japanese maple that is pretty healthy. I rescued an elder plant that was being thrown out and it is hanging in there but isn't as happy as the maple. Some other plants are also starting to thrive. It used to be pretty desolate. Now if I go away for a few weeks in the summer it starts getting overgrown so I have to weed and prune! Amazing what mulching kitchen scraps can do.
