And this attitude that if I have to take a drug test then so does he just encourages more drug testing. The drug testing industry loves that. I've seen the headline of this diary in comment threads everywhere for the last couple of days. We who hate the War On Drugs need to stop saying it.

“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.” Lyndon Baines Johnson

As long as hypocrites in Congress who make these laws which do not apply to them remain. And there's no sign of them going away any time soon.

End the drug war and the need for piss-testing will stop. Absolutely. But until that happens, do not--DO NOT--conflate the pointing out of hypocrisy with "blame for continuing the WOD". Because that's wrong.

This all started with "what the Republicans did to language".

...that I see all the time on facebook -- "If I have to be drug tested in order to keep my job, then welfare recipients should be tested as well."

others who have zero control of the laws dictating that we all piss-test, you could absolutely say that.

But Congress makes these laws. So no, it's not the "same" argument at all.

...in a position to be a member of congress? Drug testing congressmen could cement prohibition in place. And, yes, I see Radel's hypocracy but a drug test requirement at the top would just percolate downhill.
