    gun.

And yes. Although it's statistically only a couple of kids, you are coming around. But why aren't the gun owners doing this kind of reminding within their group?

It's not impolite at all to ask someone if they've got all their firearms up where kids can't get them. People without kids often have no idea.

Why is it easier to buy a gun than it is to register to vote in most states?

    •  Where do you get they don't? another fantasy? (3+ / 0-)

because every damn gun owner I know...and that's basically everyone I know, either keeps their guns locked up, out of reach or in a safe.....heck I haven't had a kid in my house in years and I just upgraded to a better safe....

No matter what you attempt to attribute to gun owners, it seems to be false at it's core...

If your cause is so good and just, why the need to falsify to gain converts?

to ask if guns are secure. Why don't gun owners remind each other to be safe during the holidays. The diarist was asking if the guns were secure. Due to visitation of friends and family many in that 10-14 age group that statistically ends up dead when guns are present.

Is there a RKBA diary going around that I missed?

        •  again, where do you get that we don't? because we (3+ / 0-)

don't post a diary on dkos about it?

First off, your kids shouldn't be playing at someone's house who you don't know well ...I knew who my kids played with and knew their parents....If the need was there the suggestions or questions were made or asked....I have yet to have a parent not allow their child at my home due to anything let alone my firearms....

Why would you make a position out of whole cloth then attribute it to gun owners?

it's horrible when a kid dies in any way.  It sucks, but you sure seem to choose a low volume killer as the answer.......Teach gun safety in school, twice, once very young and once when they are old enough to get it.

Show them that a gunshot isn't like in COD4, you don't lose hit points or whatever, you lose life.....this needs to be taught imo.....

There's a casual disrespect for human life and wellbeing infecting society and it isn't because of guns, they were much higher per capita earlier yet the thought of dragging one out, or a knife, at a party or school was just not done....it wasn't even considered an option, disputes were solved with fang and claw, not knife and gun.....
