(Not to attack you personally, but your short comment prompts my response to our community at large.)

    Write him, to what end?

Do you think Schumer, or ANY of them give a rat's ass about your displeasure?

(Time for me to drag out that ol' dead horse and beat him senseless once again.)

The ONLY communication to an elected representative or senator that can have any impact whatsoever is this: "Change course, or you won't get my reelection vote. I'm dead serious. And I'll spend my time and energy ensuring that my fellow Democrats will likewise withhold their votes from you."

Now, maybe Schumer's promotion of Wall Street's interests and his rabid support of Israel's subjugation of the Palestinians are not that big a deal to you. That's fine. My point is a larger one.

Every single day, on this, the largest Democratic blog in the country, we see hundreds of commenters proclaim their intention to "push back" and "let 'em know" and it's all a bunch of sternly worded ineffectual crap.

If you, my fellow kossacks, are committed to vote for every Tom, Dick and Mary with a D-suffix, regardless of job performance, have at it, but for Pete's sake, let's drop the pretense of holding them "accountable."

you'll always get a kneejerk AIPAC elected; anyone not toeing the line can't win.

      It's a big bloc vote.

Weiner, for instanced, denied that the West Bank was occupied.

      Hillary voted for the war.

        Schumer and New York specifically.

The point I was making, the point I will continue to make, is that accountability is exacted at the ballot box. We must have the courage to withhold our votes from those who violate the public trust, even at the risk of occasional Republican victories. As long as we continue to cast knee-jerk guaranteed votes based on nothing more than party affiliation, our pols will continue to ignore our "demands" with impunity.
