  •  My family is not Wal-Mart. (0+ / 0-)

Our family motto "Use it up, wear it out, make do, or do without".

We don't buy new if we can buy used. We don't buy AT ALL if we can get it for free. We just got a "new" "tube" tv because my Dad is buying himself a flat screen, for example.
We buy clothes from thrift/consignment stores when we can, and I am super mindful of buying duplicates or items we won't every actually wear. We try to spend on experiences rather than things - and this is getting easier as our kid is getting older.

When we do buy new we try to purchase from a local small business if at all possible. Big box stores are our last resort, but never Wal-Mart.

We DO spend money on: locally raised meats and organic produce, dog walkers, high quality shoes, schooling.

All Kossacks are my allies, but if you can't express your thoughts in a civil and kind manner, I won't be engaging in a conversation with you.
