  •  This is an exercise in futility (13+ / 0-)

The only people who will pay attention to the "debate" (quotes because an actual debate has two sides with legitimate arguments), are die-hard believers in evolution or creationism.  Most folks, even if they have an opinion, don't care and won't change their beliefs regardless.

Just ignore them? Just let them go through their lives without knowing that ignoramusi like Ham are spreading lies and religious insanity through the school systems of red states?

I want every American living to know about these people. It's precisely because they only preach to their choirs that they are allowed to NOT be laughingstocks. Bill Nye needs every convert to reality he can get. Only by NOT exposing their lies and controlling politics do they get as far as they do.

Only forty years ago these people would never have gotten any more exposure than the Alex Jones show, if even that. But merely ignoring them and refusing to show up to debate them leaves a hole in which they reside in the political spectrum--permanently.

They are insane. They RUN shit. They have far too much power. And the best way to take power from an insane person is to EXPOSE their insanity, not run from it...

happened.   It's not going to be broadcast live on all the big networks.  In fact, it's not even going to be mentioned on the TV news and probably not in any newspapers.  No one's mind is going to be changed by this.

Do we need to do something to educate people?  Sure.  That probably starts with K12 education.   But debates like this are just an amusing sideshow.

...probably won't take this seriously, because, as the OP pointed out, the debate is pretty settled to us.

So the only people who will pay attention are Creationists.
