    Wallace (unless you mean a different Wallace than Alfred Russel Wallace).  Wallace argued for human origins as a special case and Darwin did not.

    But I agree with your basic premise - creationists are primarily upset by ideas about human origins.  They don't really care about the rest.

      The man who published at the same time as Darwin... Descent of Man. had to be published because he rushed to press with his own....

      Alfred Russell Wallace.

      Darwin was being very, very careful to not say that man descended from the apes, but he had talked to his good friend Wallace about all this, and Wallace was neither shy in his claims nor as careful with his evidence. While Darwin only ever really said that humans evolved, Wallace would say that humans evolved from lower animals, etc.

      Wallace made his claim in Darwinism. I apologize for being imprecise and befuddled.
