If Nye makes a decent showing and has practiced properly, he may be able to persuade a few creationists to start reevaluating their beliefs.

I think that the only question we should be asking then is not creation vs evolution but is the bible an accurate history of the world from its origins to the death of Jesus?  That is a better question because there are a few contradictions that can be exploited very effectively to weaken fundamentalism overall.

persuade any creationists to question their beliefs.  Provide a bit of support to those who were already questioning their beliefs, perhaps.

The truth is that, in today's society, you have to make a conscious decision to be a creationist.  We are surrounded by evolution in the media, in the people we meet each day.  To most of the world, the fact of evolution is non-controversial.

As I've said elsewhere in this thread, I've known such people to make that decision as an article of faith.  They know what they are doing and they know they are out of step with the world.  Some of them have been saved by their fate from lives that were falling apart, other simply find solace in it.  I can respect that.  I can almost admire the ability to hold on to something that will make you a laughing stock in some circles.

Which is why I don't think any creationists will be swayed by Nye.

Their children? Plant those seeds, man.  Plant those seeds.
