Interesting new NYT piece on backlash in Spain against conservatives for their Neanderthal position on women's right to choose: http://mobile.nytimes.com/...=

I'm on the left wing of the possible. I write for the same reasons Eric Arthur Blair did, just not as well.

      •  That is deeply troubling and reveals part of (4+ / 0-)

the mindset: "there have been numerous statements by Gallardón in which he claimed that “motherhood is what makes women real women”." Part of my roots are in Spain (Canary Islands), and it is mind-blowing that the progeny of Franco PP is in control. That is another strategic aspect to the situation. Because of the PSOE accepting austerity and not standing up to the Euro bankers, they are out and women and the poor suffer even more than they would have otherwise in the capitalist collapse.

The coming to power of the Francoist conservative "PP" Party is at least
a partial proof of Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel's oppugning platitude:
"The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing from history."
