    distressed me when I wound up studying anthropology - was the fact that many early anthropologists never even bothered to record much information on the women of the cultures they came in contact with.  

    that shifted after Boas - but it has only been recently that the focus has begun to shift.

    I too wonder - but alas we can't undo history - we can only try  to correct what has been written and move forward supporting First Nation's people.
