    One ask, is it true matriarchy or matrilineal?  The people's I grew up with had matrilineal (sp?) traditions (White Mtn. Apache, Jemez Pueblo and Hopi) though the Apache had lost a lot even by the early 70's.  The pueblos were a different story though in that women still had "property rights" as far as the house, fields, crops etc.  It was a real eye opener to someone raised in the very patriarchal military life.  Thanks again.
