    it's strange, but if it was someone we loved very often we'd be appalled and alarmed and want to make them go to  the ER right away.

    Yet people don't take themselves that seriously sometimes. I've done it myself and sometimes, for myself, have even wondered if I don't care about my well being enough (after the fact). I am not AT ALL suggesting this for you or anyone in particular but wonder if that's part of what some people do. Or just denial. Or just human nature.

    This is why when someone I care about undervalues some concerning symptom, I ask them if it were someone they loved reporting this to them, what would they do? Wouldn't they get their loved one to a doctor right away?
