    I'm talking 10-20 years for things to really reverse. Things happen slowly in the land of Dixie. In some places it'll take even longer. As the many ethnic conflicts around the world demonstrate, identity trumps pretty much everything else, including self-interest. People would rather hold on to the illusion of belonging to the superior group than have food on the table and a good job.

      in many parts of the South.  Many of these people are still living in antebellum times.  Even glaciers move faster than the diehard souls in Dixie.
