years now.  It's called, you can't really live on Welfare, you can barely exist.  Your kids can't have dental care, you often can't afford a vehicle and must use expensive public transportation.

In our fair city the door to door bus service requires car seats for preschoolers, and you must furnish them.  So how does a young disabled mother, take two kids on the bus to the doctor's office--what does she do with two full sized car seats at the other end for the return trip?  She can't carry the younger child and two car seats and she can't even hold the hand of the older one.  Can she leave the seats on the bus-- OMG no, she can't.  They can't be responsible for them!!!  Also she needs the umbrella stroller to manage the little one.  Now she has two car seats, two kids who can't be left to walk unsupervised and she has the umbrella stroller.  It becomes like a slapstick movie.  This is just one of the many problems she has to solve every day.  How does she get home with groceries, two kids and two car seats.  Needless to say, she spends a lot of time at home or finding someone to watch the kids while she goes for groceries.  Or begging for a ride to the doctor's from a beleaguered neighbor.  Can you imagine Mr. Ryan's wife and kids managing by using the bus... neither can I.
