and I can hardly believe that the New York Post was ever liberal :-D

Politics is like driving. To go backward put it in R. To go forward put it in D.

    •  Yes, it's true (3+ / 0-)

My parents were not highly educated, but were pretty liberal folks (in fact, they were registered Liberals, a story for another day), and they were very fussy about which papers made it into the house. We got the Times, of course, because they wanted us reading at a high level, but what my brother and I really wanted were comics - and the Times was resolutely non-visual, they didn't even run editorial cartoons back then.

So in order to appease us, they also got the Post, which was probably the most liberal daily (out of 7) in the city, and it had comics. But they were the suckiest comics of any paper. Mark Trail, Rex Morgan, MD, that kind of thing.

The weekends we visited my aunt and uncle's house were like a holiday, because they got all the papers on Sunday - with Dick Tracy, Prince Valiant, and dozens of others, all in color!

"The only thing we have to fear is fear itself."........ "The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little." (yeah, same guy.)

      •  i miss Sunday comics (4+ / 0-)

i remember when the Sunday paper used to have an 8 page comics section.

Peanuts on the front, above the fold!

Now it's four pages of comics and an insert full of ads, and that's if you're lucky

kos bringing political cartooning to the front page is one of my very favorite things about dK
