I think the fact that the election results have been nothing but red since 2000 and Issa has been re-elected every term since 2003 points out the basic problem.

America's LAST HOPE: vote the GOP OUT in 2014 elections. MAKE them LOSE the House Majority and reduce their numbers in the Senate. Democrats move America forward - Republicans take us backward and are KILLING OUR NATION!

Issa's Democratic challenger in 2012 got 41.8% of the votes  and since Issa's district has 29% Democrats, most of the other portion of 41.8% likely came from 10%+ Independents (or Decline-to-State voters), this is the most number of vote any challenger to date has received vs. Issa.

Also, CA-49 since September 2012 has seen more Democratic & Independent voter registration increases in the thousands as opposed to just 225 Republican voter registration increases during that period.  I can't say with certainty this trend will continue but the September 2012 - February 2013 period also comes before Issa launched his IRS and Healthcare.gov investigations (as well as the several other pointless ones on National Parks Service).
