Mr Mo & I went to Tamarindo in 1998. We were enchanted by the iguanas and howler monkeys and sea turtles (saw one lay her eggs!). Beautiful spot. We then went to the Arenal volcano and then by horseback to the Monteverde Cloud Forest preserve… ultimately ending up at Manuel Antonio National Park.

We repeated most of the same trip with our grown children over the 2011-12 holidays… but couldn't manage to get to Tamarindo (not enough time). I would love to go back. Sounds like it still hasn't been overrun with tourists — unlike Manuel Antonio (still lovely, but oy, so much development). We ended up going a bit further south to the beaches at Dominical, which were essentially deserted.

I would love to retire to Costa Rica. Thanks for this reminder!
