  •  We are still paying off 'my debt' for being sick (17+ / 0-)

for a year and all the Dr. visits, and all the blood work, and all the specialists, and all the tests. A year later and we are being garnished, phone, computer, tv all shut off and still owing.
And the last specialist they sent me to was a sleep specialist, yes, between the sleep apnea and restless leg, that is why I was sick. So no need to have MRIs or catscans, all just another way for us to owe. And we have insurance through my work and I am on my husbands plan. Do they care? No. Now our credit score is at an all time low.
I fear for others, but just keep on keeping on. And we have it GOOD! I am still alive and it is totally a controllable issue health-wise. Try to remind myself everyday, we have it good. Roof over our heads, nourishing food in our tummies. No we don't have extra, but we do have each other.
    Thanks for the diary!
    Peace and Blessings!

    •  know how you feel, been there. (3+ / 0-)

I had to declare bankruptcy, with insurance.  It is what happens when 3 people in a family end up in the hospital within a few months of each other and after the insurance paid 80%, the 20% left ended up being over $55,000.  We just couldn't pay it and they refused to work with us.  Don't be afraid of bankruptcy, sometimes it is the best way to go.  It means no credit for about 3 or so years, then you start getting offers, but be careful, they do try to take advantage of you.  At least it releaves the pressure of debt collectors callling all the time.  This was in 1992, we are free of all that and went on with our lives.  My husband's health, unfortunately has continued downhill, I am blessed he is still here, the care he has gotten from the VA has been the reason he is still here.
