    Some businesses are coming around to that line of thinking, as costs rise and they look to cut coverage and unload employees onto government programs. One issue, someone noted above, was that for many years the trend was to increase compensation through better benefits because they weren't taxed as heavily. Now, as benefits are cut there isn't a corresponding boost in salary to make up for the loss in compensation. Its a loss all the way around for the worker. We can hope more businesses will support a better system and some will. Many others will just be happy to find a way to pay less or even none of the health care costs for employees, focusing so much on their bottom line they ignore the systemic crisis they're contributing to.

    I guess this is as much a rant as any real answer to your questions but I appreciate the comment. Its a sad state of affairs but at least somewhat improved by the ACA.
