Our veterans are losing the battle with government when it comes to getting timely care. This petition is an attempt to force our government to recognize the problem and to do something about it. The men and women who served when their country called, deserve our best.
Subject: Demand better and more timely care for our veterans.

I created a petition to The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Barack Obama which says:

"The United States sends our veterans to war, and when our veterans return home with mental health issues, such as PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), the government fails miserably in providing adequate and timely health services and compensation. From Vietnam to Iraq and Afghanistan,  our veterans deserve better.  Whatever resources are needed to streamline treatment, claims processing, and counseling, we need to demand that Congress provide emergency priority funding, giving our best to those who gave their best for us. "

that one reason the Rethuglicans in Congress perpetually underfund the VA is that it is very efficient.  Veterans are not getting what they deserve and need, but they're getting a lot more than they would get if they were given vouchers to use private-sector medical care.  The VA, like the Postal Service and the Social Security Administration, is a part of government that actually works to deliver benefits to non-billionaires with astoundingly low overhead.  That's why people like Darrell Issa hate these agencies.  They put the lie to his dogma that government has no role to play apart from killing people in other countries and subsidizing obscenely profitable polluters.
