    "Justice Alito ... asked about banning kosher or halal butchers on the grounds that their practices are inhumane."

    The whole idea of kosher and halal butchering practices, initially, was that they were MORE humane than the existing practices of the era.  A kosher or halal animal must be killed by slitting the throat, causing rapid exsanguination and a relatively pain-free death.  It is only today's factory-farming and meat-production methods, in which the animals to be slaughtered this way, are hung by their back legs on a conveyor for an indeterminate amount of time, that brings cruelty into the picture.

    OF COURSE the New Right is wrong - but that doesn't make WRONG the new RIGHT!

      is rarely based on "corporate religious beliefs" - a term of art this lawsuit seeks to create - but rather a marketing decision to appeal to more customers.
