    in this comment thread, also including mathematicians, scientists, physicists and astronomers, way more than a few, so ... maybe your premise could be revised?

      That he was just focusing on philosophers (your Kant, Descartes, Plato, Socrates types) not scientists, astronomers and so on.

      And the truth is if you google something like "greatest philosophers" most lists you see are limited to men. They have the name recognition, not the women philosophers.

      Not saying it's right, but it shows the challenges women had and have to be taken as seriously. Interestingly the one notable exception is Paul Ryan's fantasy girl,  Ayn Rand.
